Rare musical re-issue of JACK THE GIANT KILLER to Blu-ray in 2018 from Kino Lorber Studio Classics!

I should really stop being surprised by the things that are announced for Blu-ray these days, but this is another that arrived out of nowhere. The Edward Small-produced Seventh Voyage of Sinbad-inspired 1962 fantasy Jack the Giant Killer will see its HD home video debut in early 2018 (a release date has yet to be finalized), which is news enough in itself for genre fans. Utterly unexpected is that the long unseen musical re-issue version, prepped in the 1970s and later a television staple, will be included as well, and in a fresh HD scan to boot!

The musical version of¬†Jack the Giant Killer must be seen to be believed, and I’ve included a sample from it below (which will also give some idea of the lamentable quality in which it has been represented over the last couple of decades). Kino, who announced the release via their Facebook page, have yet to finalize the finer details. Needless to say, I’m excited to see how this one shapes up, and will update this page with further details once they become available.
