THE HIDDEN slithers its way to Blu-ray next week from Warner Archive

Director Jack Sholder’s 1987 twist on Hal Clement’s seminal sci-fi novel Needle finds alien FBI agent Kyle MacLachlan (pre-Twin Peaks) and Earth policeman Michael Nouri (Flashdance) joining forces to combat a fiendish people-possessing invader as it weaves a path of violent destruction through Los Angeles. Punctuated with explosive action, gruesome special effects, and plenty of that elusive late-’80s style, The Hidden has grown into a cult favorite, and deservedly so, in the thirty years since its original theatrical release.

Warner Archive will present The Hidden from a newly minted HD master (effectively rendering an earlier Spanish blu-ray edition obsolete) with original 2.0 and remixed 5.1 surround DTS-HD audio. Supplements are set to include an audio commentary with director Sholder and Tim Hunter as well as an SFX featurette with commentary from the director, with an original trailer (also presented in HD) rounding out the mix.

The Hidden streets on October 3rd, retails for $21.99, and can be pre-ordered now through both WB Shop and Amazon.com.
